From GenForum: copied from Ken Thames post #1503 "Searching for info on Dempsy Justice"

Their [Louisa and Lucius] parents were Dempsey J. Justice and Temperance (Tempy) (Lester) Justice, who were married in Jones Co., GA on February 14, 1828. They were a prosperous plantation family, with Dempsey dealing in land speculations. He was also a Colonel in the Georgia Militia.
After the presidential election of 1839, Dempsey and his friend John Draper had gone to Pond Town (Ellaville today), GA. For reasons which we do not know, Dempsey took the life of his friend. Following the incident, he spent the next several years in and out of prison, until he was finally pardoned in 1849.
After Dempsey was pardoned in 1849, it is believed with the gold strikes in California he headed West to Calaveras County, CA where he engaged in mining and running a boarding house until his death c1853.

CLINTON CEMETERY

Elisa H. Justice
Died 28 Nov 1828, age 17
Note:Daughter of Dempsey Justice (born abt 1766 died 1827)
mother was Milley, last name unknown.

I do not know how she died but wonder if there was some sort of epidemic at
or around that time. Her mother, Milley and her brother Stephen had both
died late November of 1828, shortly before Eliza's own death.
